Sumangali Poojai
With Ambal by their side holding her hands, Priya and her family landed in the USA in 2014. That is the beginning of a long spiritual journey with Amman for several others in the US. Ambal’s first utharavu was to invite 15 sumangalis in Thai of 2016 and 1 kanya for a sumangali poojai at her residence. Each Sumangali has to light one lamp (agal vilakku) and pray for universal well-being (Lokakshemam), followed by prayers for her family and then finally herself.
This was Ambal herself inviting her children to surrender their queries at her feet and her promise to fulfill them all. Priya knew no one in the US at that time but Ambal guided her every step of the way. With help from kind people like Jyothi Sunder and Lalitha Narayanan, she was able to make this poojai a grand success. Year after year, this tradition continued and as a continued testament to the Ambal’s deep understanding of her devotees' desires, a Sumangali Poojai was organized in February 2025 under her divine guidance. During this auspicious event, 15 sumangalis local to the Dallas area were invited to offer their prayers at her feet. The ceremony concluded with the serving of prasadham and thamboolam.
